Yes, I know it is only October, but I wanted to give it a try. We have a very large Chestnut Tree in our yard and it started dropping its bounty. They tasted like macadamia nuts. Next time I am going to play around with the seasonings to add a little more flavor.
- The trick is you have to soak the chestnuts first. Any bad ones will float to the top.
- Then you score the nuts so that they don’t explode in the fire.
- We roasted them for about 25 minutes in a cast iron pan.
- Let them cool off so you can handle them. Then you peel the shells off and eat them warm.
